Ancient India - Ayurvedic healing is thought to have been invented around 4000 years ago - it believes the body needs to be cleansed of toxins to be brought back into balance.
Nadine, who is suffering from tinnitus and hearing loss due to stress, has found that traditional treatment has not helped her and is now seeking Ayurvedic methods in India. Dr Meera Sreeraj supervises the treatment of Nadine.
Proper nutrition is seen as essential. Dr Mark Kenoyer, an American archaeologist, visits an excavation site in northwest India, an Indus settlement from 2000 BC.
At the Essen-Mitte Clinic in Germany, volunteers are tested for stress, and yoga is found to reduce stress levels. Dr Kenoyer, in the meantime, is intent on investigating the science behind the belief, and drives to Gondal to investigate other Ayurvedic methods.
Dr Meera Sreeraj believes that city living leads to a need for Frankincense, an ancient anti-inflammatory remedy. Professor Simoneit tries out Frankincense on his patients in Tuebingen (Germany), and finds it indeed more beneficial than the commonly used Cortisone.
